I love(d) Twitter. It was my favourite social media network for the better part of 15 years since joining in May 2007. I grew up with Twitter and was there for its various transformations, alterations, and evolutions. I have written about my appreciation of Twitter, done some great networking as a blogger via Twitter, and been to multiple “Tweepups” (remember those?).
The latest change on the platform fundamentally changed how much I enjoy using it and while it has had many controversies over the years this one has made my timeline unrecognizable and made my interactions with it so negative. I will not be jumping to any alternatives immediately but will take some time away from tweeting or reading tweets to avoid the cesspool it has become. In the meantime, you can find me streaming on Twitch and hanging with my pals on Discord. My plans to get back into Youtube are underway and will start as soon as I transition from my current job to being a full-time graduate school student later this year. For now, sayonara Twitter it’s been a (mostly) lovely 16 years.
I’m completely with you, I’ve moved to threads where I hope most of J-Twitter will be, but if anything we can at least connect on Discord right?
