The Sunshine Girls – Semi Finals of Netball World Championships

The Sunshine Girls are into the semi finals of the 2007 Netball World Championships and will be facing the Silver Ferns from New Zealand for a spot in the final. The match will be taking place in the wee hours of tomorrow morning Jamaica time and I hope the young Jamaica team makes it through. I’ve been watching highlights of the matches and although this is not the best team we have ever sent to an international netball event it’s still a strong and young team and we have to keep up with or improve our number one ranking in the world.

I recently got interested in netball after my too other favourite sports (football and cricket) continue their downward spiral. The reggae boys and the West Indies are at the bottom of the FIFA and ICC rankings and sometimes I can’t bother with the embarrassing performances. If I was up to my I’d fire every last coach, player and member or the various boards and start fresh with new people and same under 15 players as the senior teams and build up the cricket and soccer teams with a 5-10 year goal in mind.

Netball is a great sport, I went to my first netball game a few years ago when a new indoor arena was built here and thats when I realized that it was a ripe hunting ground for girls on the field and as spectators; plus the eye candy of watching beautiful girls run around jumping and frolicking is “entertaining”, with all that candy I just hope I’m not diagnosed with the first ever cavity of the eye.

  1. Damn it New Zealand beat them again! They played well though and I’m proud of them…which is more than I can say for reggae boys. Hope they will beat England in the bronze playoff.
