Japan’s shinkansen, or bullet train, is a marvel of modern transportation technology. First introduced in 1964, the shinkansen has since become an iconic symbol of Japan’s innovation and efficiency. I love riding the Shinkansen because it is a fast, comfortable, safe and convenient way to get between major Japanese cities.

I rode the Shinkansen during my recent trip to Kyoto and I was captivated all over again. I have written many blog posts about the Shinkansen the most popular of which contains a gallery of photos I took when I first rode the Bullet Train in 2011.
I look forward to being able to ride the Shinkansen more often, especially to areas I have never been to like Hokkaido and Kyushu. Taking the various models and enjoying the views is an adventure within itself.
