Max Romeo – Chase The Devil

The song was blasted into the spotlight (again?) when it was featured in Netflix’s Luke Cage (which has since been cancelled *sad face*). It was first released in 1976 and was written by Max and Lee “Scratch” Perry who is also the producer. Whether you are religious or not the basic message of Max Romeo – Chase The Devil is to steel yourself against your challenges and attack them head-on. The lyrics might be wacky and over the top but the message rings clear if you listen closely.

I’m gonna put on a iron shirt and chase Satan out of Earth
I’m gonna send him to outer space to find another race

Life is all about overcoming challenges. 2020 has been quite the challenge and I have been following the instructions for a bad day regularly, making sure to just dance when I can and hoping that the Coronavirus/COVID-19 madness will be over soon. Let’s all put on our iron shirts and fight together!
