Kyoto: One Day Itinerary

I had a two-day trip to Kyoto recently. The 1st day was forgettable as it rained all day and I mostly went to places I have been already, but the second day made for a spectacular Kyoto: One Day Itinerary. 1st stop in the morning was at Nijojo Castle which I had been to during my first trip to Japan in 2011. After that, onwards to the super ultra crowded Kiyomizu-dera where I finally got that stamp I have been wanting from probably Japan’s most famous temple.

Next it was the Yasaka Pagoda braving even more crowds for those Instagrammable snaps. There was hardly any space to walk and everyone was fighting over the best photo spots. My favourite stop for the day was Nishiki Market, crowded yes, but in a way markets should be and I had some scallops and roast chicken that refuelled me in ways I cannot explain.

The final stop of the day was Fushimi Inari Taisha where I managed to get add another stamp to my collection from one of the oldest shrines in Japan.
