Jamaica to Conquer Berlin at World Champs

I am still counting down the days to the 12th IAAF World Championships in Athletics to be held in Berlin Germany from August 15th to 23rd 2009. The Jamaican team has already been chosen and on paper is an even stronger team than the one that went to Beijing for the Olympics last year.

The last World championships was held in Osaka Japanwhere Jamaica won 10 medals. Back Usain Bolt wasn’t the ultra mega super star that he is now and was beaten by Tyson Gay in the 200m. Fast forward to now and just imagine how competitive the sprints will be this year, can Jamaica sweep the sprints? I am most excited about the 100m for men. Will Bolt dominate? Will Asafa rise to the top again? Will Tyson destroy the Jamaicans? Or is there someone being overlooked that will force them-self into the spotlight with an upset!

Usain Bolt was soundly beaten by Tyson Gay in the 200m at the last World Championships

I predict victories for the Jamaican team i the 100m, 200m and 4x100m for both men and women. With a lot more medals expected all round. I better contain my excitement for now, I still have to wait another 24 days for the championships to start. IΒ  look forward to blogging about many gold medals, cheering ’til I lose my voice and celebrating many victories in Berlin!

  1. I am out of the loop in athletics, apart from Bolt who do Jamaica have. Asafa Powell was the best when I was watching actively but he is really injury prone..
