In Love with my Sister’s New Laptop – Dell Vostro 1000

My sister will be 10 in a few months and lately she been hogging my own PC so me and my mom decided that we should get her a laptop. I got a dirt cheap but brand new Dell Vostro 1000 for her on Ebay as I thought a basic setup would all she needs for all her homework, disney.com and family.ca browsing and flash game playing, but I ensured I got a DVD drive and burner for my own movie and anime watching needs.

The notebook arrived a few days ago and low and behold I have fallen in love with it. I thought it would have been cheap and not of the caliber of a tech freak like me…heck I have been wanting to buy a laptop for over a year now but everything that catches my eye is over us$1000. My sister’s computer is great, maybe it’s the new PC syndrome, but I will take this s inspiration to try and save more so I can get my own this summer. Not really a Dell fan I am more an HP kinda guy but I kinda like the simplicity of her set-up, I don’t expect it to run any advanced PC games, but for browsing, movies, music and light gaming it’s perfect, not to mention ANIME watching in the comfort of my bed! Rest assured I will be enforcing all 9pm bedtime curfews from now on so I can get “borrow” ๐Ÿ˜€ her laptop. The life of an older brother is a good one ^_^. Read More for specs.

  1. Congratulations to your sister man. but if your gonna buy a notebook dont get a vostro.. dont buy a dell rather

get an hp the dv series. Their beautiful. Built for multimedia and tough.

I’ve got the inspiron 6400 / e1505 (same model).. Monster specs performs like hell but dells just suck.. everybody with this model laptop has the screws that hold their hd in missing. (everybody i mean every body i come across with this moddel. A friend bought one the other day which is even more bad ass than mine (better wifi card pre n. and a killer video card compared to mine) and his svideo port just up and stopped working. Lame.

in my days of howning an hp the nx9000 i never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever had a problem. i now you may be inclined to buying dell because there is local support but there is local hp support as well BML is the hook up.

  2. She’s gonna be an early tech, let it start brewing from now:P, she must be one happy camper, when i was 10 i knew nothing about computers, i thought i was superman:P

  3. her own notebook before she is 10! I didn’t even know how to turn on a computer when I was 10! Times have changed! Congrats to her, I know she will have fun! Just make sure you set up some child protection software and filter.

I too want a new notebook and it’s in the $1000 range and I don’t have dem cash deh! I’m thinking another Dell or a HP.

  4. @ Taylor…no vostro for me, I’m ganna get myself a HP

@ Gordon…you sure are right…she was so surprised and excited

@ Stunner….Vista comes with an excellent parent filter that I have already started to use.

    @ Kurt….none for you! ๐Ÿ˜›

  5. I love H.P,Myself. I bought this H.P. Entertainment Center (DVD6000z) I love it.

I know your sister was happy. Wow, years ago growing up in Jamaica I would never had conceived the level of technology (and ability to get it) that has encompassed the island.

    Onelove..iriegal
