I bought a new laptop recently; the ASUS Zenbook 13. I was in the market for a sleek, ultraportable laptop that I could do some programming and development tasks on as well as my usual blogging, writing and browsing. I already have a Dell Inspiron 7577 gaming laptop but it’s not very portable due to its size and weight. My old Sony VAIO (that took me through undergrad) remains my favourite laptop I have ever owned but so far this βASUS Zenbook 13 OLED UX325JA is doing a good job at the tasks I bought it for.

The features I needed
The big three features I needed in a new laptop/ultrabook were:
- Long Battery Life
- Portability
- Bright screen
The ASUS Zenbook 13 delivers in all areas with an all-day battery, 1.14kg weight and probably the best screen I have ever used on a laptop PC. I didn’t care for touch screens, a bunch of unnecessary things or best-in-class specs. This laptop is great so far for coding, light browsing, online meetings, spitting out content for my blog and other online endeavours. I have really been diving back into programming with python (check out LifeLogger and Kantanji) and soon JavaScript and I bought this to be my primary development and learning machine. I am excited to see what I will learn and build on it. I’ll leave video editing, gaming, streaming and other heaving lifting to the Dell and keep this on me whenever I am on the go.
