Japan’s newest bullet train is set to start service on March 14th. The Hokuriku Shinkansen will operate between Nagano and Kanazawa. The new route will provide scenic views of the passing countryside such as the Tateyama Range which looks spectacular in varying seasons.
The Hokuriku Shinkansen is a very attractive train. The journey time between Tokyo and Kanazawa will be cut from 3 hours 47 minutes to just 2 hours 30 minutes.
“We wanted to convey a sense of the region to travelers,” says Tanaka Norikazu, who heads the JR West division in charge of train carriages. “To do so we infused trains with a blend of patterns and color tones associated with the traditional craftworks of Kanazawa, Toyama, and Takaoka.”

This is a beautiful train! No doubt the travel will by faster and more convenient. Blending it with colors and tones based from traditional craftworks of Kanazawa, Toyama, and Takaoka will certainly make the ride memorable and pleasant.
