Full Spectrum Warrior is a tactical action game I have been playing on Twitch (@Jamaiplays) recently. In it, the US Army (and its allies) invade a fictional country in the Middle East to liberate it from a tyrannical ruler. Originally released in the early 2000s, Full Spectrum Warrior reminds me just how crazy the early 2000s were. I am not from the Middle East, nor American, my “military” experience is 5 years as a terrible cadet, but this game viewed through today’s lens is extremely offensive and would never see the light of day today. Is that a good or bad thing, I dunno, but it is interesting to me that it’s not just books, newspapers, movies etc that provide a snapshot into culture and history, but video games can do that too.

Follow me on Twitch to know when I go live streaming a variety of games – I am currently exploring/pillaging a Necron tomb world in Warhammer 40k: Mechanicus while rocking out to some epic music.
