2024 Year in Review

According to my 2023 Year in Review post, my plan for 2024 was to “shine my brightest and do my best”. 2024 was a unique year when my life understandably evolved around graduate school. With that in mind, here is my concise record of some of the happenings of 2024 (even if nobody other than me reads it).

State of the Blog

In 2024 I only made 17 blog posts, the lowest amount I have made in a calendar year since I started blogging in 2006. Blogging for me has always been fun but with my brain being s stretched in 2024 it was hard to find the mental energies to write blogs. In the last month of 2024 I redid my whole blogging workflow (my “blog flow” teehee). It has been simplified from a complicated web of Notion notebooks to tagged drafts in the Google Notes (Keep) program I can access from my phone or any of the myriad of devices I access the web with. So now blog posts are shorter, snappier and can be drafted from anywhere at any time, like I used to do back in the day when I was averaging double-digit blog posts a month.

State of the Socials

I made just one YouTube video on my Jamaipanese Youtube Channel but made many on my Jamaiplays gaming channel. This year I am taking the short, concise and simplified approach to my Youtube videos as well as will be making more vlog and experience-type videos. I grew to dislike Twitter more, created and deleted my account on Threads and currently spend more time on Bluesky.

Twitch-tastic

Twitch (Jamaiplays) in early 2024 was fun, then I felt like it was becoming a chore. I switched to playing the kind of games I liked and not what I thought would be popular and I really started to enjoy playing again. Some big hitters are coming in 2025 such as Monster Hunter Wilds, The Alters and more. Also, I have been secretly saving towards getting a PS5, that will be my birthday gift to myself this year – I am turning 40! When I started this blog I was 20 years old…
