My time as a Hiroshima Study Abroad Ambassador

From April 2024 to March 2025 I was a Hiroshima Study Abroad Ambassador (HSAA). Being a HSAA allowed me to learn more about Hiroshima and socialise with locals outside my studies at Hiroshima University. I enjoyed my time and participated in many activities. Memorable activities included volunteering at a food bank, learning about disaster preparedness while pretending to be foreigners needing help after a disaster, understanding more about tea ceremony in Japan and meeting people from my local community . I would not have had these great experiences otherwise. I also got the chance to dress in kimono for the 1st time in all my years in Japan. I enjoyed it so much I am considering dressing up in traditional Japanese clothes again when I graduate in September.

If you are a current or future university student in Hiroshima please consider applying to be a Hiroshima Study Abroad Ambassador. I am positive the experience will be fulfilling and enhance your experience in Japan.
