Max Romeo – Chase The Devil

The song was blasted into the spotlight (again?) when it was featured in Netflix’s Luke Cage (which has since been cancelled *sad face*). It was first released in 1976 and was written by Max and Lee “Scratch” Perry who is also the producer. Whether you are religious or not the basic message of Max Romeo – Chase The Devil is to steel yourself against your challenges and attack them head-on. The lyrics might be wacky and over the top but the message rings clear if you listen closely.

  1. I’ve always liked that song. Cant remember the reason right now though. Maybe its because I like all things in the rock-steady genre.
