JAPAN: Kingdom of Characters – Exhibition Photos

I attended the press preview of the JAPAN: Kingdom of Characters exhibition which opens tomorrow at the National Gallery in Downtown Kingston and runs until the 14th of June 2014. I invite ALL past and present fans of Japanese anime, manga, art, history and culture to visit the exhibition no matter what age. Art and animation students will also find this exhibition very interesting. How many characters on display can you recognize? Tell me in the comments below or tweet me @Jamaipanese.

Unsurprisingly the RX-78-2 Gundam on display is my favourite piece at the exhibition.

I snapped quite a few pictures of the exhibition but the photos only managed to capture  tiny bit of the awesomeness of the exhibition. Please attend to view the pieces in person and learn about the history of anime and manga in Japan from the 1950’s onwards. I will be at the exhibition again tomorrow; say hi if you attend!

  1. Very cool exhibition and you are right about viewing it in person. I also appreciated the vid you uploaded today and its cool to see that the exhibition was well received. The Gundam was awesome, probably one of my favourite pieces. Bravo to another cool event! Oh, your photos are awesome too 🙂

  2. Looks like a pretty kool event! I must admit I was surprised to see cosplayers in your post! I think most people wouldn’t associate cosplay with Jamaica, but I guess it’s a land full of surprises, as we’ve seen from lots of your other posts! [anime]
