Can’t Wait to Play Final Fantasy XIII

I’ve been a longtime Final Fantasy fan playing all of the games from one through to nine but apparently I am one of the few people who hated Final Fantasy X and the over dose of estrogen in Final Fantasy X-2. I played the MMO styled Final Fantasy XI for a little while but not having a decent computer at the time or a reliable internet connection doesn’t spell well for a game that requires hundreds of hours of attention and a monthly fee. Final Fantasy XII just didn’t appeal to me and arrived at a time when I had the most fun shooting my friends in multilayer first person shooters.

Since seeing Final Fantasy XIII’s revelation almost four years ago at the Electronic Entertainment Expo I fell in love with Final Fantasy all over again and now I am counting down the days till in gets released int he west. Unfortunately I don’t own a PS3 and the plan to get one is just one of many sacrifices I have to make to ensure that Operation Visit Japan works, but I have access to a few and I am looking forward to spending many hours with Lighting, Snow Villiers, Sazh Katzroy and company.

  1. March 9 is so very close.

Good to hear you have access to a few consoles to play the game. (Friends I’m guessing). I am sure you’ll enjoy it as much as possible. I don’t care what anyone else says, it’s an amazing game.

  2. Also very much looking forward to playing although will be getting on the 360 since that lack of a PS3. In more great FF news its soon coming to the iPhone I seriously can’t wait work productivity will be almost nill 😀

  3. Aaaaargh can’t decide what to buy it on! I’m a big 360 achievements monster but the PS3 version is one beautiful blu ray disc

  4. I have to agree with TicTaek and it is an amazing game..
I’ve been seeing the US ads with the song from Leona Lewis AND I have to say it makes me want to sit and play for a few hours more 🙂 I’m interested in the English version though.. I want to hear all the voices :-p I truly hope you enjoy this game and I look forward to the post you make after you get your hands on the game 😀

  5. I’m also really, really looking forward to this! I *did* like FFX, but I can see how it’s not for everyone 😛 So hopefully you’ll enjoy this one! And as someone already mentioned, it’s coming out on the xbox 360 as well, in case you own it.

    1. don’t own a Xbox 360 either and all my friends are inseparable on theirs. More likely to have a better chance in landing a PS3

  6. Hello!

I’ve been reading your blog for a spell now and felt compelled to comment because it’s been quite enjoyable reading.

I wish you the best on your Operation Visit Japan trip and wonder what tips I can give having been there (only for two weeks though, so nothing major) but you seem to have it covered!
If I think of anything other than to eat lots of takoyaki, I’ll let you know.

Anyway, not to be rude and do a random introduction posting on this particular entry… I will join this discussion.

I am also curious as to Blue Shoes’ question. What did you think of FFVIII?

I want to play FFXIII as well but I’m having real issues with the release of the PS3 version in the U.S. I have seen no Limited Edition versions announced and it has me angry!

    1. thank you for your comment and best wishes. I’ll Takoyaki on my “to eat” list right behind Natto ( I lost a bet and have to eat that stuff, long story).

I loved FFVIII I lost a couple hundred hours of my life playing that game over and over and over again.

I too noticed that there is no limited edition PS3 version of FFXIII announced for the west, strange.

      1. I lost some hundred hours playing that installment as well but FFVIII was by far my least favourite… in fact, I’d go so far as to say I hated it.
Ah, but that is why people are interesting – for our varying opinions on video game goodness.

FFVII was my favourite having played it first, I think. And next for me might be FFV. I must admit I am one of those that enjoyed FFX – come now, Auron walked around with a giant jug of sake that he probably didn’t even need to drink being ‘of spirits’ and all. (ahaha, bad pun. And for that I make no apologies).

It might be embarrassing but I only just played and finished Final Fantasy Tactics which was incredibly great and deserves more love!

As for the natto – be sure to take video when you eat it and have back up for a second breakfast. My friend’s face when she ate it was an instant classic. And she and I have had some strange things, let me tell you (and not on dares but out of sheer curiousity).

Some might say it stems from stupidity but I’m gonna go with we’re “adventurous”…

…with maybe a slight touch of ‘the stupids’.

  7. Haha, you’re not the only one that didn’t like FF X. I didn’t like it much either, the storyline was a bit weird to me. Though I did beat that Chocobo racing game (I’m quite proud of that lol). Ya, I’m thinking about getting FF XIII as well, despite some of the criticisms I’ve heard about the game, specifically the one tracked storyline.
