2008 Summer Olympics Mascot Information

Continuing with part of two of series of posts counting down to the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. The 200 day countdown post spoke about all the work China is putting into these games as well as my expectations for team Jamaica. Now with 150 days to go I will post information about the 5 2008 Olympic games mascots as requested by Leon.

There are 5 mascots representing the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing, one for each of the five Olympic rings and also the five elements of nature according to Chinese customs – sea, forest, fire, earth and sky. They are called “Fuwa” and they carry a message of friendship and peace from China to the world. Huanhuan is the Olympic Flame, Jingjing is the Panda, Nini is the Swallow, Yingying is the Tibetan Antelope and Beibei is the Fish. Each of Fuwa has a rhyming two-syllable name which is a traditional way of expressing affection for children in China. Hmmm if my parents were Chinese I wonder what they would call me…JamJam…?

  1. China copies everything.

They copied the the flash games on their website.

They copy wallets, cd’s and shoes.

AND they copy the idea of having multiple mascots to maximize their merchandise sales.

    Evil!

I have a bullet ready to put between the eyes of the green one. That’s the most evil.

  2. This summer the international Olympic Games are going to take place in Beijing China. These games are one of the most popular sports games all over the world and this event is highly attended. I was wondering if I could find a chance to attend because tickets are always expensive in such important events. But a friend has recommended me a site where to compare ticket prices before purchasing. I can look for the cheapest prices offered and see which prices that I can afford.
