New Spring 2008 Anime I will be watching

Last year was a good year for anime. I enjoyed anime like Seirei no Moribito and Claymore that premiered last spring, Naruto returned with Shippuuden and Gundam 00‘s first season got better with each episode. It’s spring again and as usual brand new anime are premiering and a few are enjoying a continuation of their stories. After looking at write ups, previews, trailers and checking out at least one episode of most of the series that have started so far these are the three series I am most looking forward to:

The Tower of Druaga: Aegis of Uruk

It has demons, references to gods, great animation, art style, costume design and a somewhat interesting story (at least on paper). I’ve checked out only one episode so far and althought not overly impressed I’ll be sticking around for a few more.

Amatsuki

This series was recommended by a friend from Japan and I am mostly watching it for “educational purposes”as it is set at the end of the Edo period of Japanese history when Japan was some would say forcefully opened up to the world after a long time of isolation. The characters are interesting, the story is ok and overall I have been entertained by the 3 episodes I’ve watched. I kinda have a thing for historically based anime even if it’s fantasy and I am expecting a lot from this series.

Soul Eater

Soul eater is my favourite series so far. It’s hilarious, I love the art style, animation and music and it’s the most interesting series so far. The sory is based around 3 weapon masters who have weapons who can transform into humanoid form and then back to weapon form at will (or when instructed).

@ engrish….hey man thanks for stopping by! i’ve noted ur recomendations

  2. I love Seirei no Moribito and also have DVD’s. My recommended anime is MACROS Frontier. In addition, The Sky Crawlers of a movie is recommended.

  3. I’m more of a manga guy, but Soul Eater is very promising (though I’ll probably just read the manga) For anime, I like Code Geass. It is really all about that and probably Gundam 00 if I ever get around to it….

  4. Kwl
The Tower of Druaga: the Aegis of Uruk is pretty cool. Haven’t even started to watch Amatsuki :'( and Soul Eater is cool as a manga but as an anime it sucks (the graphics altogether). I hate when the manga drawings look ok but it comes out pathetic in the anime. blah.

  5. Yeah, I only reach episode 8 of Soul eater because I’m more a manga person but I’ve finished the manga so far and intend to start the manga for Code Geass and Tengen Toppa Gurren Langan which is this up mecha series. I should start the anime for that too.

  6. Hello I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed reading your blog just now, but I wanted to let you know that it is not showing up correctly in my browser. I have the latest version of opera. hopefully you can fix it 🙂
