Operation Visit Japan – January 2011 Report

One full year has passed since the first report drawn up on my blog detailing my plans to visit Japan. What started out as a new years resolution for 2010 will turn out to be the jewel of 2011 and hopefully one of my most memorable experiences in life. In this the 13th Operation Visit Japan monthly report I can almost safely say that I will be visiting Japan in around 6 months. Just a few more formality hurdles to jump like visa applications and vacation leave from work and I’ll be set.

The support I have received from family, friends, readers and even people who have never met me before but took the time to drop me a message via TwitterFacebook or my contact page has been gleefully overwhelming. Attending an event like the Japanese calendar Exhibition earlier this month and meeting so many awesome people who follow my blog face to face makes it all worth it.

January 2011 Report

Last month saw a last minute flurry of activity on my chipin widget as many person got their donations in. A few persons have contacted me and shown interest in donating but not via paypal and if all goes well another reader plans to mail me a 5000 yen note left over from a trip to Japan they went on some time back. Like the true Japan geek I am you can expect a blogpost about that when it arrives in the mail. Kathy and another donor who would like to remain anonymous donated a total of $35 plus the $100 from my salary in January and $193 in net advertising revenue for the last quarter of 2010 adds $328 to the Operation Visit Japan fund this month. Combine that with the totals from January 2010, February 2010, March 2010, April 2010, May 2010, June 2010, July 2010, August 2010, September 2010, October 2010, November 2010 and December 2010 you get $2695 or 90% of the $3000 goal!
