The hurricane season will start in less than a week and a very active season is expected. I still have awful memories of Ivan and Emily a few years ago, they didn’t really hit Jamaica head on but they sure did a lot of damage to us and out Caribbean neighbors and who can forget what Katrina did to the southern parts of USA.
Named for Huracan, the Mayan god of wind, storm and fire, the hurricane is an amazing yet destructive natural phenomenon. Hurricane season takes place in the Caribbean, Atlantic, Gulf of Mexico, and Central Pacific from June 1 to November 30 while in the Eastern Pacific the season is from May 15 to November 30.
