Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine

Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine is the poster child for scenic views of Mount Fuji and a landscape that changes drastically with the seasons. The shrine is the centrepiece of the Arakurayama Sengen Park. It is located on Mt. Arakura and in front of Mt. Fuji in Yamanashi Prefecture. Its position offers breathtaking views of not just Mount Fuji (on a clear day) but also the surrounding city and countryside.

Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine + Mt. Fuji

I went with friends on a very cloudy day before climbing Mount Fuji. Although I didn’t get to see the beautiful views myself it was still a good experience exploring the grounds and climbing the stairs with 398 steps to the top. This Shrine is a nice stop to add to a Mount Fuji adventure or if you are passing nearby. If I do visit again I will do so in the spring or fall on a clearer day.

I got my Goshuincho (Shrine/temple book) there and I am so pleased with its beautiful design featuring the tori gates and pagoda of the shrine.
